IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK: David Attenborough joins Instagram and we can’t contain our excitement!

Sir David Attenborough has joined Instagram and fans have clearly loved the fact! The 94-year old has broken the world record for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram according to Guinness World Records. It took only 4 hours and 44 minutes for the English broadcaster and natural historian to break the record that was previously held by the one and only Jennifer Anniston.

The Instagram account which is run by the filmmakers of his latest film, ‘A Life On Our Planet’, is exactly what 2020 has needed. After many natural disasters and a global pandemic, Sir Attenborough has joined the social media platform to raise awareness for looking after our planet. In his first post, he says “The world is in trouble. Continents are on fire. Glaciers are melting. Coral reefs are dying. Fish are disappearing from our oceans.”

Over the next few weeks, the documentary veteran will be using Instagram as a platform to explain what the problems with our planet are and what we can all do to deal with them!
