A “PR MASTERSTROKE”: How Kanye West’s relationship with new wife is helping to revive his tarnished brand image.
The story of Kanye West finding himself caught up in controversies is beginning to sound like a broken record. Buried under endless accounts of antisemitism, following a messy and very public divorce from ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, it seemed there was no way to fix the Emmy award winning rapper’s tarnished reputation.
West’s most recent appearance in headlines, however, may just be the solution he needs to revive his brand image.
Recently, West has found himself faced with public indecency charges alongside his new wife, Australian architect, Bianca Censori. The couple landed in headlines globally after West exposed his naked buttocks to a group of tourists during a boat ride in Italy, where the pair have been spending their summer.
Although not your typical positive headlines, InsideOut PR’s very own founder & CEO Nicole Reaney, sees the stunt as an opportune situation for West to successfully take control of his brand image labeling the stunt a “PR masterstroke” explaining, ‘It has generated media attention around the world, giving them further profile and a narrative on their personas,’ she stated in a recent interview with The Daily Mail.
In fact, Reaney sees West’s new relationship with Censori as “softening” his image bringing “a completely different dimension and influence to Kanye.”
As well as this added dimension to West’s image, the stunt has helped distance him from the shadows of his ex-wife “’When [West] was with Kim Kardashian, it was Kim at the center of the publicity” Reaney explained.
Perhaps West’s latest controversy is his ticket to a successful return into the music industry.
